NASSA Rejects Unauthorized ADC Meeting In Enugu, Warns Members To Stay Away

ENUGU — The ADC National and State Assembly Aspirants (NASSA) Enugu State Chapter has disowned a purported meeting scheduled at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) State Secretariat, describing it as illegal, unauthorized, and misleading.

Members of NASSA raised the alarm while addressing concerns over rising political tensions, urging party faithful to avoid actions that could destabilize internal party processes.

Speaking during an interview with a Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) correspondent in the state capital on Friday, the group of aspirants advised members and party faithful to steer clear of the planned meeting allegedly fixed for April 20, 2026, warning that the political atmosphere is becoming increasingly sensitive.

The group stated that the notice circulating about the meeting holds no legal validity and does not represent the position or authority of the party’s recognized leadership structure.

According to NASSA, the meeting was allegedly convened by Mezie Iziga Nwọnụ, whom the group described as lacking the constitutional authority to summon or preside over any official gathering on behalf of the party in Enugu State.

They further said that such actions violate the constitution of the African Democratic Congress and undermine established internal procedures guiding party administration.

NASSA emphasized that the tenure of the current State Executive Committee (EXCO) of the ADC in Enugu State remains valid until May 12, 2026, and that any attempt to assume authority before that date constitutes impersonation.

The group warned that individuals presenting themselves as members of a new executive or issuing directives in that capacity are engaging in fraudulent misrepresentation.

It stressed that only a duly constituted and recognized process can produce a new leadership structure after the expiration of the current executive’s tenure.

NASSA called on aspirants, stakeholders, and the general public to completely disregard the meeting and avoid participation in what it described as an illegitimate gathering.

The group reiterated its commitment to upholding due process, internal democracy, and constitutional order within the party.

It also warned that any actions taken outside these principles could attract disciplinary measures and possible legal consequences.

The development reflects growing tensions within party structures at the state level, as political alignments begin to shift ahead of future electoral contests.

NASSA concluded by urging members to remain law-abiding and committed to the party’s established processes, emphasizing the need for unity and order during a politically sensitive period.
