Naija go pay more now, as Federal Government don announce new prices for number plates and driver’s license on October 9, 2024

According to NewsBand tori, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu government don approve new prices for national driver’s license and vehicle number plates through Joint Tax Board (JTB), and dem go start to dey use am from November 1, 2024.

Di board don announce say dem go upgrade di quality and security of identification items, like driver’s license and number plates, to follow international standards.

Dem want make am harder for bad pipo to fake dem, and make sure say dem dey secure and reliable. Dis change go help Naija fit into di global standard for identification, and make life easier for citizens.

For di new price list, Naija go pay:

  • N15,000 for driver’s license wey go last three years
  • N21,000 for driver’s license wey go last five years

Now, if you wan get driver’s license for three years, you go pay N15,000.

But if you want am for five years, you go cough out N21,000. Dat’s di new price wey government don announce.

Okada and keke drivers no go escape di increase too:

  • Three-year licence go cost N7,000
  • Five-year licence go cost N11,000

For vehicle number plates, di new price start from:

  • N30,000 for standard private vehicle plate
  • N30,000 for standard commercial vehicle plate

Di price list don come out:

  • Fancy number plate (special plate) go cost N400,000
  • Okada number plate go cost N12,000
  • Dealer vehicle number plate (for car sellers) go cost N100,000

Joint Tax Board (JTB) don adjust price for government number plates too:

  • Government fancy vehicle plate go cost N120,000
  • Government standard vehicle plate go cost N80,000

Government motorcycle number plates get new price:

  • Fancy okada plate N50,000
  • Standard okada plate N20,000

Mr. Olusegun Adesokan, wey be secretary for Joint Tax Board (JTB), yarn say dem don ask Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to inform dem about dia plan to educate and sensitize di public about di new prices for driver’s license and number plates.

Meaning say, FRSC go tell JTB how dem plan to make pipo understand why dem increase di price, and how dem go do am, before dem start to dey collect di new prices.

Dem go wan make sure say everybody know wetin dey happen before dem start to dey collect di new prices.

Di new prices wey dem announce include:

  • Driver’s License: N15,000 for three years, N21,000 for five years.
  • Vehicle Number Plates: N30,000 for standard private and commercial plates.
  • Fancy Number Plates: N400,000.
  • Motorcycle Number Plates: N12,000.
  • Government Fancy Vehicle Plates: N120,000.
  • Government Standard Vehicle Plates: N80,000.

Dis one mean say, JTB wan make sure say FRSC plan to educate di public go dey correct, so dem go fit add dia own input if necessary.

Dem believe say if dem engage di public well-well, di new prices go dey implemented without any problem.
