Blessing Onwukwe has opened up about the intense public reaction to her role as “Mama Monica” in the viral film Monica, which has amassed over 16 million views on YouTube.

The film, produced by Uche Montana who also stars in the lead role dives into themes of family pressure, responsibility, and societal expectations. Onwukwe’s performance as a strict, emotionally charged mother figure quickly became a talking point online, with many viewers reacting strongly to her character.

In an interview, the actress admitted she anticipated attention from the role but was taken aback by how personal the backlash became. According to her, some viewers struggled to separate her from the character she portrayed.
