Varsity workers don threaten to resume indefinite strikes

University workers don dey threaten October 16, 2024say dem go start fresh strike action becos say for four months dem neva still receive salary.

According to Naija News report on October 16, dem talk say di mata don get strong signs say academic activities fit close down for all Naija universities very soon.

As Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Other Associated Institutions (NASU) don give warning say dem fit resume di strike wey dem suspend before.

Mr. Peters Adeyemi, di General Secretary of NASU, confirm di mata to journalists on Wednesday October 16, 2024, during di National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of di Union for Abuja.

E no com talk wen di strike go start, but dem dey expect say di NEC members go decide di mata for dia current discussion.

Meanwhile, di President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led government meet wit di leaders of di Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) on Wednesday.

If dem no do am, our members fit start indefinite strike afta di ultimatum expire,” na Mr. Ibrahim talk am.

Di statement still add say, during di National Minimum Wage meeting, President Bola Tinubu don approve di payment of di four months’ salary wey dem hold on 18th July 2024.

Afta dem discuss wit di leadership of di Nigerian Labour Congress and di Trade Union Congress.
