Fubara Reaffirms Rivers’ Commitment to Investment-Friendly Environment

PORT HARCOURT, Rivers State — Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reaffirmed Rivers State’s commitment to creating a transparent, predictable, and investment-friendly business environment to drive economic growth and attract both local and foreign investors to the state.

The governor made this declaration on Friday during a stakeholders’ engagement with business leaders, investors, and representatives of the organised private sector in Port Harcourt. He emphasised that his administration is dedicated to removing bureaucratic bottlenecks and ensuring that Rivers State remains a destination of choice for investment in Nigeria.

Fubara noted that a conducive business environment is essential for economic development and job creation, adding that his administration has implemented several reforms to improve the ease of doing business in the state. These reforms include streamlining business registration processes, enhancing security, and improving infrastructure to support commercial activities.

He stressed that transparency and accountability remain central to his administration’s approach to governance, urging investors to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available in the state. The governor further highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in driving sustainable development, noting that collaboration between government and the private sector is critical to achieving the state’s economic diversification goals. He called on business leaders to partner with the government in areas such as agriculture, manufacturing, and renewable energy.

Industry stakeholders present at the meeting commended the governor’s efforts to improve the business climate in Rivers State, describing the reforms as a positive step towards unlocking the state’s economic potential. However, they also raised concerns about infrastructure deficits and access to finance, which they said remain major challenges for businesses in the state.

In response, Governor Fubara assured stakeholders that his administration would continue to address these challenges through strategic investments and policy interventions. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that Rivers State remains a hub for business and innovation in the Niger Delta region.
