ABUJA, Nigeria — The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted three days of sunshine, cloudiness, and scattered thunderstorms across all regions of the country, according to the agency’s latest weather outlook.

NiMet’s weather forecast outlines a mix of sunny and cloudy conditions across the northern, central, and southern regions, with chances of isolated thunderstorms expected particularly in the southern states. The agency noted that hazy conditions are expected to persist across the North-Central region throughout the forecast period, with dust particles in suspension over the area.

The northern region is expected to experience sunny and hazy atmospheric conditions, while the southern region will see sunny skies with patches of clouds and prospects of isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light rainfall in states such as Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom. Thunderstorms are anticipated later in the day over parts of Ondo, Imo, Edo, Anambra, Abia, and other southern states.

The central region, including states such as the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, and Kwara, is also expected to experience hazy conditions alongside sunny intervals, with the possibility of localized thunderstorms. The agency has warned that dust particles suspended in the atmosphere over the North-Central region could pose health risks to individuals with respiratory conditions.

NiMet urged residents to take necessary precautions, particularly people with asthmatic conditions and other respiratory issues, who are advised to limit exposure to dusty environments. Motorists were cautioned to drive carefully during rainfall and hazy conditions, while airline operators were encouraged to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective flight planning.

The agency also advised the public to stay informed through regular weather updates from official NiMet channels and to visit the agency’s website for more detailed information. NiMet continues to emphasize the importance of early warnings and climate resilience, particularly as Nigeria experiences increasingly unpredictable weather patterns.

As the country continues to monitor weather conditions, residents across all regions are encouraged to stay weather-aware and take necessary precautions to safeguard their health and property. The three-day forecast reflects the ongoing transition in weather patterns as Nigeria moves deeper into the 2026 season.
