Fubara Declares Political Realignment, Calls For Peace In Rivers State

PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria — Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has called for reconciliation and political unity, declaring that the period of conflict in the state’s political landscape should give way to peace and cooperation.

The governor made the remarks on Wednesday during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Rivien Medical Industry project in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, where he also publicly outlined his current political position.

 

Addressing guests at the event, Fubara said he had reunited with his political family and urged his supporters to align with the Rainbow Coalition, a political alliance associated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The governor said the focus should now shift from political disagreements to collective progress, stressing that unity would create new opportunities for the people of Rivers State.

 

“We need to move forward. The time of war is over; it’s time of peace,” Fubara said while addressing the gathering.

 

He added that embracing peace would enable greater development and urged supporters to look beyond past political differences.

 

During his remarks, the governor also declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid, publicly aligning himself with the President ahead of future political activities.

Fubara further announced his endorsement of Kingsley Chinda as his preferred candidate for the Rivers State governorship, making his position known as political consultations continue ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Video clips of the governor’s address circulated widely on social media shortly after the event, highlighting his call for reconciliation and his appeal for supporters to embrace the new political direction.
