Cross River Governor Swears In Two Commissioners, Reshuffles State Cabinet

CALABAR, Nigeria — Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has sworn in two new commissioners and approved a cabinet reshuffle as part of efforts to strengthen governance and accelerate the implementation of his administration’s development agenda.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Government House in Calabar, marked another phase in the governor’s efforts to reposition the state executive council by assigning officials to roles where their experience and expertise can best support the administration’s priorities.

Governor Otu said the appointments and portfolio changes were aimed at improving efficiency in government, enhancing service delivery and ensuring that ministries remain focused on achieving the objectives of his administration. He stressed that the reshuffle was designed to inject fresh energy into governance while promoting greater accountability and performance across all sectors.

The governor urged the newly inaugurated commissioners to view their appointments as an opportunity to serve the people with dedication, integrity and professionalism. He charged them to work closely with other members of the state executive council in delivering projects and policies that will improve the lives of residents.

According to Otu, his administration remains committed to infrastructure development, economic growth, healthcare, education, agriculture, tourism and job creation. He said all members of the cabinet must remain focused on implementing programmes that will attract investment, stimulate local businesses and improve public services throughout the state.

The governor also called on the reshuffled commissioners to quickly settle into their new responsibilities and ensure continuity in government programmes without unnecessary delays. Speaking after taking the oath of office, the newly sworn-in commissioners expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to discharge their duties diligently. They assured residents that they would work to support the administration’s vision of sustainable development and improved governance.
