The Senator representing Osun East, Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, has urged his supporters to closely monitor the voting process during Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.
Fadahunsi made the call while addressing supporters in Ilesha, urging them to ensure that voters freely cast their ballots for their preferred candidates.
In a video circulating online, the senator was heard telling his supporters to monitor the ballot and ensure that votes were properly counted.
His latest comment comes days after he sparked controversy over remarks interpreted as a threat against members of the Accord Party in Ilesha.
Fadahunsi had warned that there would be trouble if Accord Party members were seen in the area and was quoted as saying his supporters would “kill” them.
He later clarified that the statement was metaphorical, saying he meant that his supporters should defeat the Accord Party through lawful and democratic means.
In a statement issued by his media office, titled “Kill Osun Accord with Votes, Not Violence, Senator Fadahunsi Tells APC,” the senator said his earlier comment was purely political and metaphorical.
He maintained that he was calling on supporters to overwhelmingly reject the Accord Party at the polls rather than engage in physical violence.
