Elon Musk: Trump appoints SpaceX owner to lead new Department of Government Efficiency

The newly elected US President, Donald Trump has appointed the SpaceX owner, Elon Musk as the co-leader of his new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

According to the Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), Trump announced that Elon Musk, the visionary owner of Tesla, X (formerly Twitter), and SpaceX, will co-lead the DOGE alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, a former Republican candidate.

An official statement titled: “Statement from President Donald J Trump posted on X formerly twitter read “I am pleased to announce that great Elon Musk, working in conjunction with American Patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

“Together these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, cut excess regulations, wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies.”

“It will become, potentially, “The Manhattan Project” of our time. Republican politicians have dreamt about the objectives of DOGE for a long time.

“To drive this kind of drastic change, the DOGE will provide advise and guidance from outside of Government, and will partner with the White House and Office of Management and Budget to drive large scale structural reform, and create an entrepreneurial approach to Government never seen before.”

Trump in the statement further stated that “I look forward to Elon Musk and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy with an eye of efficiency, and at the same time, making life better for all Americans.”

“Importantly, we will drive out the massive waste and fraud which exists throughout our annual $6.5 Trillion Dollars of Government Spending.”

“They will work together to liberate our economy and make the US Government accountable to “WE THE PEOPLE.”

“Their work will conclude no later than July 4, 2026. A smaller government with more efficiency and less bureaucracy, will be perfect gift to America on the 250^th Anniversary of the Declaration of independence.”

Reports stated that Musk’s appointment by Trump is a fulfilment of his promise, following his weight behind Trump’s campaign.

Musk’s endorsement came with a hefty price tag – a whopping $119 million (£92 million) spent on canvassing efforts across seven crucial battleground states.

Earlier, Musk has been vocal about his desire to eliminate government waste, and his willingness to take drastic measures to achieve it.

On his X platform, he proposed slashing up to three-quarters of federal departments, boldly stating, “99 is enough”
