“Haa! Atiku Is Now An Apostle Of Anti-Corruption?” — Wike Mocks Atiku

Ex-Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has launched a fresh attack on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, questioning Atiku’s credibility after he reportedly urged Nigerians to accept money from opposition parties but reject funds from the party in power, which he described as stolen money.

Wike mocked Atiku as an “apostle of anti-corruption” and recalled former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s past criticism of Atiku, including his reported statement that appointing Atiku as Vice President was one of his major regrets.

The remarks have sparked another heated political exchange ahead of the 2027 elections.

President Donald Trump was speaking in Grand Island while campaigning for Republican candidates ahead of the U.S. midterm elections.

He talked about the high price of petrol/gas, blaming it partly on the ongoing conflict involving Iran. Trump said the war was close to ending and argued that stopping Iran from getting nuclear weapons was extremely important.

However, Trump then made a controversial statement. He suggested that even if Iran were able to destroy an American city such as Los Angeles or San Diego, that would be a “small price to pay” to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. The audience reportedly applauded the remark.

That statement caused strong criticism:

California Governor Gavin Newsom called Trump's comments “deranged and dangerous.”
San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria pushed back, saying San Diego should not be treated as expendable or “collateral damage.”
Trump's critics said his language was reckless and inflammatory, especially because it appeared to suggest that the destruction of American cities could be an acceptable cost of war.

Retired Nigerian police officers, alongside their wives and children, took to the streets of Abuja to protest the Contributory Pension Scheme. The retirees are demanding a total exit from the scheme, saying they feel neglected after years of service. One retired officer lamented, “We have become a liability,” while comparing the government’s response to complaints from soldiers with the treatment of retired police personnel.

The protesters are calling on the Federal Government to urgently address their pension concerns and improve the welfare of retired police officers.
