Nollywood veteran Peter Fatomilola has shared a heartwarming account of the generosity of comedian and actor Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, revealing that the entertainer has repeatedly gone out of his way to support him financially.
Fatomilola, while reflecting on his experiences in the Nigerian entertainment industry, recalled one occasion when Mr Macaroni gave him ₦200,000 for fuel shortly after he had earned just ₦50,000 for appearing in two scenes.
According to the veteran actor, the gesture was not an isolated incident, as Mr Macaroni had supported him financially on several occasions without making it a public spectacle.
“Mr Macaroni once gave me ₦200k for ‘fuel’ right after I earned just ₦50k for two scenes; and he’s done that multiple times,” Fatomilola said.
He also revealed another memorable encounter involving veteran actor Pete Edochie, saying Mr Macaroni invited him to participate in a scene alongside the legendary actor and paid him ₦1 million for the job.
“He also invited me for a scene with Pete Edochie and paid me ₦1 million,” he added.
Fatomilola’s account highlights the financial realities many veteran actors can face despite their years of contribution to Nollywood. While established performers may command significant respect because of their experience and body of work, opportunities and earnings within the industry can vary considerably from one production to another.
The actor’s story also places attention on the relationships that exist between different generations of Nigerian entertainers.
