Hollywood actor Adam Brody has publicly addressed the Israel-Gaza conflict, saying he supports a “free Palestine” and explaining why his political views have rarely featured in his interviews.
The The O.C. and Nobody Wants This star made the comments during an interview with GQ, where he discussed his political involvement and his decision to speak more openly about issues that he had previously discussed mostly in private.
Brody said he has never deliberately avoided political questions, explaining that most interviewers simply tend to focus on his acting projects.
“I just answer the questions I’m asked,” he said. “And it’s true. I’m not wearing a pin, so I’m not inviting a certain question, and perhaps I should. I really admire people who do.”
The actor added that most of the questions he receives publicly are related to his television work, but said he was willing to discuss politics when directly asked.
“I’m not trying to plead ignorance—here we are doing a political interview, so it makes sense that we wade into this territory—but I’ve never ducked a question, really, not a political question anyway,” Brody said.
Asked specifically about the Israel-Gaza conflict, Brody gave a direct description of his position.
“Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide,” he said. “Put me down as wanting a free Palestine.”
Brody acknowledged the scale of suffering involved, saying he found it troubling that the conflict had resulted in so much death and misery. He also expressed hope that future U.S. policy could change what he described as policies contributing to the situation.
“It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago,” he said.
Brody has also been involved in political organizing outside Hollywood publicity events. GQ reported that he has volunteered with Swing Left since 2018 and recently participated in door-to-door political organizing in Temecula, California.
The actor, who does not use social media, also defended his decision to remain offline. He said staying away from social media has been beneficial for him and indicated that he has no plans to join X.
Brody is currently best known for playing Rabbi Noah Roklov on Netflix’s romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This, which premiered in 2024. The third season is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on October 22, 2026.
His comments come amid renewed public discussion among entertainment figures about the Israel-Gaza conflict, with several actors and musicians making increasingly public statements about the issue.
For Brody, however, the remarks represent a more direct public expression of views he says he has discussed privately for some time.
