MANCHESTER, ENGLAND — Manchester United have suffered another injury setback. Midfielder Jack Moorhouse is ruled out for the remainder of the season. He sustained an ACL injury during his loan spell at Dundee in Scotland.
The 20-year-old academy graduate had only recently joined Dundee on a season-long loan. He made two appearances against Motherwell and Heart of Midlothian before suffering the serious injury.
Dundee Manager Confirms Setback
Dundee manager Steven Pressley confirmed the setback. He explained that Moorhouse was injured during a bounce game last week. The midfielder experienced swelling afterward. He subsequently underwent scans in Manchester.
Pressley described the challenge as innocuous. But he confirmed that the scan results indicated an ACL problem. This brought Moorhouse’s promising start in Scotland to an unfortunate and premature conclusion.
Loan Spell History
Moorhouse joined League One club Leyton Orient in August last year. He made 24 appearances before returning to Manchester United during the winter transfer window.
His move to Dundee was intended to provide valuable first-team experience. It was also meant to further his development. But the serious injury means those plans have now been interrupted for an extended period.
Dundee’s Injury Concerns
Pressley expressed his disappointment over the situation. He explained that Dundee had been excited about Moorhouse’s potential contribution. The club had waited a considerable amount of time to secure his services.
The midfielder’s injury represents Dundee’s third ACL setback within two months. Simon Murray and Fin Robertson suffered similar problems. This adds to the Scottish club’s growing injury concerns.
Manchester United’s Growing Injury List
Moorhouse’s absence adds another complication to Manchester United’s growing list of injured players. The club is approaching the end of the international break. They are preparing for their upcoming fixtures.
Benjamin Sesko is dealing with another shin problem. Amad Diallo is nearing a return. Matthijs de Ligt continues recovering from back surgery. Manuel Ugarte remains sidelined following his World Cup knee injury.
Patrick Dorgu has also picked up a fresh issue. Luke Shaw remains doubtful. With several players unavailable, Michael Carrick could face selection difficulties across multiple positions.
Rehabilitation Process
Moorhouse will now begin a lengthy rehabilitation process. Manchester United are expected to remain closely involved in his recovery. This is despite the midfielder currently being registered with Dundee on loan.
