American rapper Rick Ross has denied allegations that he assaulted his former girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, describing the accusations against him as “fabricated” following his arrest in Miami.
Ross turned himself in to authorities on Thursday, October 1, and was arrested on charges of battery and battery by strangulation. He later appeared before a judge and was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
Speaking after his release, the rapper insisted that he was innocent and expressed confidence that the allegations would eventually be dismissed.
“First and foremost, I am totally innocent of the fabricated allegations made against myself,” Ross said in a video shared on Instagram.
“I have an amazing team. And I’m totally confident that these fabricated allegations will be laid to rest,” he added.
The arrest followed allegations made by Kendrick, who reportedly contacted police on Tuesday, September 29, regarding an alleged incident involving Ross on August 28.
According to reports, Kendrick alleged that the rapper choked, hit and slapped her after accusing her of being with another man. She had also reportedly shared photographs of injuries on social media before making the police report.
The allegations have not been established as fact, and Ross has publicly denied them.
During his court appearance, Ross was granted release on bond. His attorney reportedly asked the judge to expedite his release while pointing to his status as a celebrity.
However, Judge Mindy Glazer reportedly responded, “I have no idea who you are.”
The exchange quickly circulated online, with social media users reacting to the judge’s response and the rapper’s subsequent denial of the allegations.
Ross’s legal situation remains ongoing, and the allegations against him have yet to be resolved in court. His statement following his release indicates that he intends to contest the accusations and maintain his claim of innocence.
