Onne Customs Free trade zone Command Generates N53.98bn in 11 Months

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone Command, Onne, Rivers State, has announced an impressive revenue generation of N53.98 billion between January and November 2024.
The Customs Area Comptroller, Usman Seriki, made the revelation during a press briefing held at the command’s headquarters in Onne on Tuesday December 10,
Seriki revealed that this revenue marks a significant 98.6% increase compared to what was recorded in 2023.
He also noted that the command has surpassed its annual revenue target for 2024 by 2.3%.
He highlighted efficiency, commitment, and improved processes adopted by the command.
The Area Comptroller emphasised the command’s dedication to innovation and excellence in trade facilitation.
He emphasized the need for strict compliance with regulatory standards in the oil and gas free trade sector, which plays a vital role in Nigeria’s economy.
He noted that several major exports, including refined sugar from Bundu Sugar Refinery and fertiliser, were successfully facilitated by the command.
Seriki further highlighted the importance of promoting transparency.
He emphasized strict adherence to customs regulations, stating that these principles have been instrumental in achieving the command’s goals.
“We remain dedicated to upholding efficiency and fostering a transparent trade environment that benefits stakeholders and the nation,” he said.
Seriki took the opportunity to commend the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for his visionary leadership and support.
“I would like to express my profound gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for his exemplary leadership and strategic initiatives.
His unwavering guidance has been a key factor in our success,” he added.
The comptroller also appealed for increased manpower deployment to further enhance the command’s operational capacity and service delivery.
In closing, he extended his appreciation to stakeholders and other authorities for their unwavering support, which he said has been pivotal in surpassing the revenue target.
Seriki urged continued collaboration to sustain this momentum and drive greater economic progress.
