JUST IN: Tinubu Appoints Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance

President Bola A€hmed Tinubu has appointed Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite.

The announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Dr. Uzoka-Anite will now serve as Minister of State at the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, marking her third ministerial portfolio in the current administration.

President Tinubu has formally submitted Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation in a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Prior to this appointment, Oyedele, a 50-year-old economist, accountant, and public policy expert from Ikaram, Akoko in Ondo State, chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, which overhauled Nigeria’s tax system.

Oyedele holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He has also completed executive education programs at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

Professionally, Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, rising to the position of Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. He also serves as a professor at Babcock University and as a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.

This strategic appointment comes as Nigeria continues to implement key fiscal reforms and strengthen its economic governance.
