Delta governor faces allegations of betraying PDP, plotting defection to APC
DDM News

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State have accused Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Diaspora digital media (DDM) correspondent gathered the information through interviews with key members of the Concerned Leaders of PDP.
The information was corroborated through access to an open letter published by the group, which detailed their grievances and suspicions about the governor’s political moves.
The allegations were made in the letter, which claimed the governor had been engaging in secret meetings with prominent APC figures.
These meetings reportedly included Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State.
According to the PDP leaders, these interactions suggest that the governor may be planning to switch parties in a bid to secure a second term in office.
The group further alleged that Governor Oborevwori had been fraternizing with APC members within Delta State.
They accused him of financially supporting dissident factions within the PDP, which they believe is an attempt to destabilize the party’s unity.
The governor’s recent public endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s policies also drew criticism from the PDP leaders.
They cited a controversial statement in which Oborevwori allegedly said, “If President Tinubu fails, I also fail.”
This remark, according to the group, signals a betrayal of the trust PDP members placed in him during his rise to power.
Concerns about his leadership style were also raised in the letter.
The governor was accused of sidelining core PDP members, creating an environment where decision-making was controlled by a small circle of loyalists.
This governance approach, which they termed a “family affairs” policy, is reportedly alienating influential voices within the party.
The group warned that the governor’s actions could negatively impact the PDP’s reputation and weaken its position in Delta State ahead of future elections.
They noted that other PDP members aspiring for political office might face setbacks due to Oborevwori’s alleged defection plans.
The Concerned Leaders of PDP called on the governor to immediately clarify his political intentions.
They emphasized that silence on the matter would only fuel more speculation and possibly confirm his alleged betrayal of the PDP.
In conclusion, the group warned that failure to address the issue would force them to take necessary actions to protect the party’s interests and secure its future in Delta State.
