Okpebholo employs over 1,000 teachers: A game-changer
By Okojie King

In an unprecedented move within just 100 days, Okpebholo has made a remarkable stride in improving the education system in Edo State, employing over 1,000 new teachers.
This achievement stands in stark contrast to past administrations, particularly those that received significant financial aid but failed to show tangible results for the education sector.
Despite receiving over $5 million in aid from the World Bank, previous leadership under Governor Obaseki’s administration fell short in its commitment to quality education.
The much-lauded Edo BEST program, often hailed by its supporters as a game-changer, failed to address the pressing need for a substantial increase in the number of qualified teachers.
Instead, the administration introduced the controversial “Edo Star” teachers—casual staff with little to no long-term impact on the sector.
Critics have raised concerns that the focus on promoting the “Edo BEST” initiative was, in fact, a smokescreen for inadequate measures that did not result in the hiring of qualified, full-time teachers.
It left many to wonder: how could a state with millions of dollars in aid be satisfied with such a limited and underwhelming approach to solving the educational crisis?
Okpebholo’s leadership, on the other hand, has proven that it’s possible to make real progress when the interests of the people are put first.
Within a short period, the administration managed to employ over 1,000 new teachers—a move that promises to have a lasting, positive impact on the educational landscape in Edo State.
This proactive approach contrasts sharply with the previous regime’s inadequate responses.
“Okpebholo na man you be,” as the locals would say—a saying that reflects the admiration for a leader who has clearly demonstrated genuine commitment to the people’s needs.
Under Okpebholo, a new Edo is indeed rising. The days of hollow promises and empty slogans are over.
With concrete action and the strategic deployment of resources, the current administration is leading the charge toward educational reform.
As Edo State looks ahead, the changes under Okpebholo’s leadership signal a brighter future for its youth, equipped with the resources, guidance, and teaching staff necessary for success.
This is the progress the people have been yearning for, and with this momentum, it’s clear that the best is yet to come.
A New Era for Edo Education
The hiring of over 1,000 teachers is just the beginning. This milestone lays a foundation for further reforms and development in the education sector.
For Edo State, this is more than just a victory; it represents a promise of progress—progress that will elevate the quality of education, bring lasting change, and ensure that every child has access to a qualified, dedicated teacher.
As Edo continues its journey toward improvement and innovation, one thing is clear: APC stands for progress, and progress is exactly what Edo State will continue to experience under the leadership of Okpebholo
