The ongoing political crisis in Rivers State has escalated following a Supreme Court ruling on the state’s allocation.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the court ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to withhold Rivers State’s funds amid the lingering political crisis.

This decision has sparked outrage, with many viewing it as an unfair move against the people of Rivers State.

Chief Bode George, a respected political leader, has strongly condemned the ruling and its potential consequences.

In a video shared by former Obio Akpor Local Government Chairman, Chijioke Ihunwo, George criticized the Supreme Court’s decision.

He warned that the ruling would worsen the crisis and inflict severe hardship on civil servants and residents.

Chief Bode George questioned the link between the state’s allocation and the disputed local government election.

He argued that civil servants should not suffer because of the ongoing political conflict in Rivers State.

“The judge and others who wrote the judgment, if they are not paid salaries, how would they survive?” he asked.

“What has the issue of the local government election got to do with those working in Rivers State?” he added.

George emphasized that Rivers State plays a vital role in Nigeria’s economy and should not be subjected to this crisis.

The Rivers political crisis has caused deep divisions among political stakeholders and disrupted governance in the state.

The conflict escalated after the controversial local government election, which intensified political tensions in Rivers State.
