Kuwait uncovers raffle scammers, arrest key suspects

In a bold move to tackle corruption, Kuwait’s Criminal Security Sector has busted a major raffle fraud, exposing a network of individuals involved in prize manipulation on March 24, 2025.

The operation was led by the General Department of Criminal Investigation’s Licensing Department, after a viral video surfaced online.

The video showed a man cheating during the popular Ya Hala raffle draw.

Security operative revealed that the fraud extended beyond the initial suspect.

Among the beneficiaries was Fatima Gamal Saad Diab, an Egyptian national working with Al-Najat Charity Committee.

Diab is said to fraudulently won five cars through the manipulated draws.

The husband to the suspect, Muhammad Abdul Salam Muhammad Al-Gharabli, who worked at Bab Al-Kuwait Press Company, is said to benefitted.

Investigation showed that Al-Gharabli has illegally secured two cars in his name.

Authorities also discovered that these illegal wins were part of a wider scheme involving multiple people.

The suspects allegedly worked together to manipulate the draws.

After the investagions, security agencies arrested the main suspect fraudsters, Ahmed Mohammed AlHamad.

Police have also arrested Diab and her husband.

The couple were intercepted at Kuwait International Airport while trying to flee the country on Monday.

They were detained and handed over to prosecutors for further investigation.

Authorities believe more arrests may follow as the case unfolds.

Officials have assured the public that everyone involved will face justice.

Officials warn that fraud in public contests will not be tolerated.
