Insecurity: Nigerians must defend themselves – TY Danjuma

Former Minister of Defence, Lt.-Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) has advised Nigerians to defend themselves against bandits, terrorists and other criminals, maintaining that the government alone cannot adequately secure the citizenry.

The former Chief of Army Staff disclosed this at a public event in his native Takum, Taraba State, over the weekend.

He said the recent spate of killings in Plateau and Benue States has validated his advice from five years ago about self-defence.

“The warning I gave some years ago is still as valid today as it was then. Nigerians must rise and defend themselves.

“We cannot continue to sit and watch while bandits, terrorists, and criminal gangs massacre our people unchecked,” the octogenarian said.

Danjuma added, “It is now very clear that the government alone cannot protect us. We must stand up and defend ourselves, our families, and our lands before these criminals overrun the entire country.”
