The Department of State Services (DSS) uncovered a major arms stockpile during a covert operation in Asaba, Delta State.

Reliable security sources confirmed to Diaspora digital media (DDM) that DSS operatives seized 50 AK-47 rifles, six pump-action shotguns, and over 3,000 rounds of live ammunition.

A major suspect arrested is an Itsekiri man serving in the British Army.

Authorities have withheld his name due to the sensitive nature of ongoing investigations.

He was reportedly acting under instructions from a man identified only as “Collins” to procure weapons.

The aim was allegedly to ignite unrest in Warri and nearby communities.

Multiple DSS insiders revealed that the British officer was tracked to Lagos.

He was intercepted at the airport just before boarding a flight to the United Kingdom.

Simultaneously, his associates were apprehended during a covert weapons exchange near Asaba.

A security source said: “The DSS Delta Command executed a planned sting operation, arresting the British major’s accomplices.”

The source added that the operation resulted in the seizure of a large cache of weapons meant for illegal distribution.

The recovered arsenal included over 50 AK-47 assault rifles, six pump-action shotguns, and thousands of live rounds.

Authorities believe the weapons were intended to escalate tensions over political and territorial disputes in Warri Federal Constituency.

Investigators suspect that opposition to the recent delineation of wards and polling units fueled the arms procurement.

Additionally, a prominent traditional ruler is reportedly under discreet investigation for possible involvement.

He emphasized the agency’s determination to prosecute anyone found guilty of plotting tribal conflicts.

The DSS called on citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities immediately.

Officials reassured the public that national security remains a top priority, especially ahead of upcoming elections.

Citizens have been advised to maintain calm as investigations continue to unfold.
