The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally concluded the submission of its governorship nomination for Anambra State ahead of the 2025 general elections.
According to reports monitored by Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), the party submitted the name of Sir Jude Ezenwafor, its unanimously endorsed candidate, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in strict compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended).
PDP News, in a recent Facebook post, confirmed that Sir Chief Jude Ezenwafor, a prominent real estate developer and committed party loyalist, emerged as the party’s standard-bearer following a transparent and widely accepted primary election.
The primary took place on April 8, 2025, at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka, the state capital.
The election process was monitored and supervised by Colonel Chijioke Onwubuya (rtd), Chairman of the PDP National Electoral Committee, who ensured that all procedures followed the party’s guidelines and INEC regulations.
Sir Ezenwafor, who was the sole aspirant in the race, secured unanimous endorsement from all 853 accredited delegates drawn from the 21 local government areas of the state.
Each delegate was given the opportunity to cast a ballot, reaffirming the democratic principles upon which the PDP prides itself.
Following the successful conduct of the primaries, the PDP proceeded with the electronic submission of Ezenwafor’s nomination, including that of his running mate.
The nomination document was officially signed by the party’s Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, and co-signed by the Acting National Secretary, Hon. Ach Setonji Koshoedo.
INEC has acknowledged receipt of the nomination, affirming the party’s compliance with all necessary procedures and timelines.
This development has been widely viewed as a strategic and unifying step for the PDP in Anambra State as the party gears up for what is expected to be a keenly contested election.
Ezenwafor, who has been actively involved in Anambra’s political scene for years, is also known for his philanthropic efforts and commitment to community development.
He has promised to prioritize youth empowerment, infrastructure renewal, job creation, and enhanced security if elected governor.
The PDP is now shifting focus toward campaign activities across the state, aiming to reestablish its stronghold and reconnect with grassroots supporters.
With the party’s internal processes completed and INEC’s confirmation in place, preparations for the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra have entered a new and decisive phase.
Political analysts believe that the PDP’s choice of Ezenwafor, backed by a unified delegate vote, sends a strong message of readiness, unity, and reform to the people of the state.
