Nigeria’s newest Professor of Military History
By Anietie Usen

A promotion well-deserved. Dr. Ubong Essien Umoh, taught me in my Ph.D [Peace & Conflict Studies’] class and I can testify that he is not just a brilliant intellectual but an exceptionally cerebral and ingenious academic.
As his student, I never hid my admiration and respect for him. He loves teaching and he is incredibly passionate about it.
Certainly it is his calling and virtually every post graduate student who has studied at his feet, leaves his classroom amazed at the depth and vastness of his knowledge of the subject matter.
He is pragmatic, practical, unsentimental and hardworking. I am very proud of this young Professor, who was born in the year I bagged my first degree but became my respected teacher down the line.
Life’s sometimes like that. You may have a lesson or two to learn from that. Congratulations “un professeur exceptionnel”
