Tinubu Should Shun Otti’s “One-Road” Stunt, Ex-Ally Blasts Abia Governor
DDM News

A former ally of Governor Alex Otti, Professor Moses A. Orji, has urged President Tinubu to cancel his planned Abia visit.
Orji warned the President against being used for what he called a political stunt by Governor Otti’s underperforming administration, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports.
The planned visit, scheduled for May 23, is centred on commissioning the 6.5km Port Harcourt Road in Aba.
Orji described it as unworthy of presidential attention, calling the move an embarrassing attempt to score cheap political points.
He argued that the President’s time should not be wasted on a single road project, no matter its significance.
He criticised the governor’s reliance on personal connections, especially the involvement of a cousin serving as a Federal Minister.
“Dragging the President just because your cousin has access to him is inappropriate,” Orji noted in the open statement.
He contrasted the Abia visit with Tinubu’s earlier trips, such as commissioning seven projects in Enugu State.
Orji asked why the President would inaugurate one project in Abia but seven in Enugu, both first-term governors.
He pointed to Anambra’s Funcity project, recently commissioned by Tinubu, as a better example of a presidential-worthy achievement.
Meanwhile, he raised questions about Abia’s “Recreational Facilities” project, allegedly completed at N7 billion, yet currently untraceable.
He asked if the President is unaware of the numerous “flag-offs” without actual groundwork in Abia State.
Among these are a flagged-off seaport, fertilizer plant, and refinery, all reportedly within the Owazza Integrated Industrial Park.
“No one has seen feasibility studies or environmental assessments for these projects,” he added critically.
Orji also highlighted the plight of pensioners, accusing the state of being the only Southeast state still owing arrears.
“What will we tell Tinubu when the pensioners protest? That we want them to forfeit what they earned?” he asked.
He noted that Abia’s revenue has increased, yet pensioners remain unpaid, calling it a gross injustice.
Orji recalled how Governor Otti once attempted to bring Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu to commission a short street in Aba.
He claimed the Lagos governor declined upon discovering it led to a friend’s private residence.
“This stunt-driven governance must be discouraged,” Orji stated, condemning what he sees as desperation for public approval.
He questioned whether Tinubu would be taken to Otti’s private home instead of the Presidential Lounge in Government House.
“Would Otti claim tortoise and vultures were used to bless Government House?” he asked sarcastically.
He mentioned the so-called Abia Medical City sharing land with a neglected rice complex in Owerrinta.
He suggested the President might be tempted to visit both sites and discover more illusions.
Orji concluded that while other states progress, Abia remains trapped in propaganda, drama, and blame games.
