Dangote tells politicians: Remember you won’t take money to grave
DDM News

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group and Africa’s richest man, has issued a powerful message to Nigerian politicians, urging them to shift their focus from wealth accumulation to legacy building through job creation.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that the prominent industrialist made this statement on Wednesday at the Taraba International Investment Summit 2025.
Dangote emphasized that no one takes money to the grave and called on political leaders to focus on impacting lives.
“Nobody will take a dime to the grave. What brings real satisfaction is impacting the lives of other people,” he said.
He urged the political class to direct their energy towards massive job creation and meaningful investments that will benefit ordinary Nigerians.
Dangote stated that the best legacy any leader can leave behind is not financial wealth but the positive transformation of lives through sound economic policies.
He reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria, declaring that he would continue investing in the country to create jobs and boost the economy.
“We are ready. We will not go anywhere to invest. This is home. We want to remain at home, we want to keep investing in Nigeria,” he stated.
He added that only Nigerians can build their nation, stressing that lasting development cannot come from outsiders.
The Taraba International Investment Summit 2025 was organized to attract both local and foreign investors to explore opportunities in agriculture, mining, and infrastructure in the state.
Dangote’s remarks come at a time when Nigeria is grappling with economic instability, rising unemployment, and a growing population of underemployed youth.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Nigeria’s unemployment and underemployment rates remain among the highest in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Dangote Group has played a vital role in Nigeria’s economy, with major investments in cement, sugar, salt, and recently, the Dangote Refinery.
The refinery, located in Lagos, is Africa’s largest and is expected to significantly reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported petroleum products.
Observers believe Dangote’s speech is a timely reminder for politicians to shift focus from personal wealth to national development, especially with the 2027 general elections drawing closer.
