A wealthy Nigerian businessman is facing public criticism for allegedly neglecting his children, including a son who survives by running a Point of Sale (POS) kiosk near one of the father’s many fuel stations.

The matter came to light after a concerned woman took to social media to call out the man, revealing that he reportedly owns over 30 fuel stations across Nigeria.

According to her, the man has not only distanced himself from his family but also dismissed some of his children who once worked for him, without valid reasons.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the unnamed business mogul lives in luxury while his son, believed to be in his early twenties, hustles daily with a POS machine to make ends meet—often just a few metres from one of his father’s properties.

The woman who exposed the incident expressed shock at the man’s alleged refusal to assist his struggling family. She questioned how a man with such vast wealth could turn a blind eye to his own blood.

She tweeted:

“This man owns over 30 filling stations, yet his son operates a POS stand close to one of them just to survive. He even fired some of his children who were working for him. What kind of father does that?”

Reactions quickly poured in across social media platforms, with many Nigerians criticizing the man for prioritizing his wealth over family welfare.

“Having money doesn’t mean you have a heart,” one commenter wrote. “This is wickedness on another level.”

Another user said, “A true man builds his family alongside his business. What’s the point of all the stations if your son has to hustle in the sun?”

Some netizens, however, argued that there might be deeper issues at play, calling for restraint until the full story emerges.

While details about the identities of the family members remain undisclosed, the viral post has ignited fresh debate on parental responsibility, family values, and the human cost of unchecked ambition.

The POS operator, reportedly the man’s biological son, is said to be self-reliant and hardworking despite his challenging background. Observers say he often works long hours and remains respectful, drawing sympathy from local residents who are aware of his story.

This case has reignited wider societal concerns over wealthy individuals who fail to uplift their immediate family, especially in a country where many young people are unemployed or underemployed.

Meanwhile, there has been no official statement from the businessman in question.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) will continue to monitor this story as more details unfold.
