A fire outbreak on Lagos’ Third Mainland Bridge on Friday afternoon destroyed a vehicle belonging to Nigerian R&B singer, Darey Art Alade.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 4:00 PM when the singer’s car suddenly went up in flames while in transit.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that the fire gutted the vehicle completely, leaving nothing behind but ashes and debris.

The cause of the fire remains unclear at the time of this report, but no official statement has indicated any mechanical fault or external interference.

The singer’s wife, Deola Art Alade, confirmed the incident via her Instagram page, assuring followers that no lives were lost.

She revealed that the car had burnt to the ground but emphasized their gratitude for the safety of the driver and all involved.

In a joint statement released on Saturday, Darey and Deola expressed deep shock over the incident but remained thankful for life.

“Yesterday, our car caught fire around 4pm on the 3rd Mainland Bridge and burnt to the ground,” the couple disclosed.

They stressed that while the experience was traumatic, the preservation of human life was far more important than the loss of property.

“It was a shocking experience, but we are grateful that the driver was safe, and that is what truly matters,” they said.

“No lives were lost. This reminds us of how unimportant material things become in the face of life itself,” the statement added.

Videos circulating on social media show a thick plume of smoke billowing from the vehicle as traffic slowed on the usually busy bridge.

Bystanders and passersby could be seen capturing the horrifying moment, while emergency services reportedly arrived shortly after.

Although it is not yet confirmed if fire officials conducted an investigation, the couple has chosen to focus on the positives.

Public reactions have poured in across various platforms, with fans and fellow celebrities expressing relief that there were no casualties.

Some also used the opportunity to raise concerns about vehicle safety checks and emergency response systems on Lagos roads.

Darey Art Alade is known for hit songs like “Not the Girl” and “Pray for Me,” and is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most respected vocalists.

He has also played key roles in talent shows like Project Fame and has long contributed to the growth of the entertainment industry.

The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of life, even for public figures in seemingly controlled environments.

For now, the couple is safe, and investigations, if any, may shed more light on what led to the blaze that consumed their vehicle.

DDM will continue to monitor the story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
