Deadly Bali attack claims life of Australian tourist

A deadly midnight shooting has rocked the Indonesian resort island of Bali, leaving one Australian man dead and another seriously injured.
Police said the tragic incident occurred just after midnight on Saturday, June 14, 2025, inside a villa in Badung regency, located in southern Bali, a popular tourist destination.
The deceased has been identified only as Zivan R, aged 32. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another Australian, Sanar G, aged 35, sustained critical gunshot wounds and is currently receiving intensive care at a nearby hospital.
According to local media outlet Detik.com, police spokesperson Ariasandy confirmed that a manhunt is underway for two suspects.
Eyewitnesses at the villa reportedly saw two men fleeing the scene on motorcycles shortly after the shooting.
They also claimed the suspects spoke English with what sounded like an Australian accent.
The police are now relying on witness testimonies and surveillance footage from the area to identify and track the suspects.
Authorities have yet to reveal the motive behind the attack.
The Australian embassy in Jakarta has not yet issued a statement, but consular assistance is expected to be offered to the victims’ families.
The incident has sent shockwaves across both Bali and Australia, raising concerns over tourist safety on the island.
Police urged anyone with information about the incident or suspects to come forward immediately.
The shooting marks one of the most serious violent crimes involving foreigners in Bali this year.
The case is now under intense investigation by the Bali Regional Police Command, as officials vow to ensure justice is served swiftly.
