They are “political IDPs”: Tinubu slams opposition coalition

President Bola Tinubu has dismissed the opposition coalition planning to challenge his administration in 2027 as “political IDPs.”

Speaking in Lafia, Nasarawa State, during the inauguration of key infrastructure projects, he criticized opposition leaders for prematurely forming political alliances to seek relevance.

Furthermore, he emphasized that such actions could undermine the country’s democratic stability and focus.

Moreover, his remarks highlight the increasing tensions and political stakes ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming general elections.

As a result, political actors are becoming more vocal and strategic in their campaigns and alliances.

The coalition, led by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Governor Nasir el-Rufai, has recently submitted a letter of intent to INEC to officially register the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).

Consequently, this move is seen as an effort to strengthen opposition’s influence before the elections.

This move signals early preparations by opposition figures aiming to consolidate power and challenge Tinubu’s government in the upcoming elections.

Tinubu described the coalition as misguided and premature, warning Nigerians not to pay attention to what he called “political displaced persons.”

He emphasized that his administration would not tolerate destabilization attempts, asserting, “I’m not geared for what they tried to pull on me—an early political campaign.”

His tone underscored his readiness to confront political challenges head-on.

Amid ongoing economic difficulties, Tinubu highlighted his administration’s achievements and expressed confidence in Nigeria’s future.

“We’ve cut the waste,” he said, adding that despite economic challenges, “the hope is here.”

He assured citizens that progress would continue and that they would not regret supporting his leadership moving forward.

The president praised Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule for his effective management and dedication to development.

Tinubu noted that Sule’s hard work and prudent resource use reflect broader federal successes.

“Sule is doing well because Bola Tinubu is doing well, too,” he remarked, linking state progress to his administration’s policies.

Additionally, Tinubu acknowledged the contributions of Nasarawa’s first lady and promised continued federal support to ensure further development in the state.

His commitment signals ongoing collaboration between federal and state governments to improve living standards and infrastructure.

As political maneuvering intensifies nationwide, Tinubu remains confident in his leadership and government’s direction.

He urged Nigerians to focus on tangible progress rather than distractions from opposition coalitions.

His remarks assert his determination to maintain stability and advance Nigeria’s development agenda despite mounting political opposition.
