The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has introduced key updates to enhance voter registration and strengthen Nigeria’s electoral system.
On June 26, 2025, INEC announced crucial electoral updates via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, highlighting efforts to increase voter participation and ensure electoral integrity.
These initiatives demonstrate INEC’s proactive approach to strengthening democracy by promoting transparency and encouraging citizen involvement across Nigeria.
Furthermore, INEC plans to reopen the voter registration process, providing unregistered citizens with new opportunities to participate in upcoming elections.
Furthermore, the commission will enable voter transfers, making it easier for individuals to change registration locations quickly and smoothly.
Additionally, it will facilitate the replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, ensuring voters can participate without difficulties, which boosts overall accessibility.
To improve convenience, registered voters can now collect their PVCs at designated centers, ensuring all eligible voters are accommodated efficiently.
These measures aim to enhance inclusiveness and streamline the registration process nationwide.
Moreover, the commission announced that the online pre-registration portal will reopen on August 18, 2025, followed by in-person registration starting on August 25, 2025.
Citizens can register at INEC’s 37 State and FCT offices, as well as at all 774 Local Government Area offices.

Additionally, Dantalle commended INEC and the Federal Government for constructing a new headquarters annex.

The meeting assembled National Commissioners, the Secretary to the Commission, aides to the INEC Chairman, and departmental Directors.
