Chizorom Harrison Ofoegbu, popularly known as Ijele Speaks, has been released from Ikoyi prison after meeting his bail conditions.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos granted bail to the social media influencer in Charge No: FHC/L/321/2024, between Inspector General of Police v. Chizorom Harrison Ofoegbu.

Diaspora Digital Media gathered that a Federal High Court judge in Lagos, Justice Daniel Osiagor, urged the legal team of Ijele Speaks to apply for his release from prison custody after federal prosecutors failed to appear in court for his arraignment.

Justice Osiagor expressed concerns over the continued detention of Ofoegbu, who has been held at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre for over a year despite meeting his initial bail conditions.

Meanwhile, the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Mr. Omoyele Sowore announced the final release of Ijele Speaks from Ikoyi prison on Friday in a post on his official Facebook page.

Sowore said: “Following a prolonged detention, Chizorom Harrison Ofoegbu, also known as “IjeleSpeaks2,” has been released from Ikoyi Prison in Lagos, accompanied by his lawyers.

“Ijele spent over a year in prison due to collusion between the Nigeria Police Force and Evang Ebuka Obi of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, resulting in damage to Ijele’s kidneys.”
