DDM News

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of ten residents in Ogboji community, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) learnt that the gruesome incident, which occurred recently, involved unidentified assailants who stormed the community and murdered innocent civilians in what has been described as a shocking act of violence.
Reacting via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, Obi described the killings as deeply saddening and totally unacceptable in a democratic society.
“I am deeply saddened by the gruesome killing of 10 innocent citizens in Ogboji, Orumba South LGA of Anambra State,” Obi wrote.
He emphasized that such incidents must never become normalized, warning that the repeated murder of defenceless Nigerians by criminal elements posed a grave threat to national stability.
According to Obi, the right to life, movement, and peaceful assembly is fundamental and must be protected under all circumstances.
“No individual or group should be allowed to act above the law,” he added, noting that acts of unprovoked violence can no longer be treated with indifference or delay by the authorities.
Obi further extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and expressed hope for the swift recovery of any injured survivors.
He called on law enforcement agencies to immediately launch a thorough investigation into the killings, track down the perpetrators, and ensure they are prosecuted without delay.
“Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done,” he stressed, adding that accountability is necessary to restore public confidence and prevent similar attacks in the future.
The Anambra State Police Command has not yet released an official statement on the killings, but security has reportedly been beefed up in the affected area.
The Ogboji incident is the latest in a series of violent attacks in the South-East, raising further concerns about the growing wave of insecurity in rural communities across Nigeria.
