The Labour Party (LP) in Enugu State has officially joined the growing national coalition movement led by Peter Obi and backed by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a move political watchers say could reshape Nigeria’s 2027 political map.
In a statement dated July 3, 2025, the acting state chairman, Chief Kingsley Ugwu, confirmed the party’s full endorsement of the alliance.
He said the collaboration marks a strategic realignment aimed at rescuing Nigeria through a united, people-driven political front.
“Labour Party Enugu State has officially embraced the coalition to contribute to the movement for achieving a better Nigeria,” Ugwu declared.
Obi’s Coalition Gains Ground
Ugwu emphasized that Enugu Labour Party remains loyal to its core principles but believes national transformation will require unity.
“We recognise the importance of collaboration and unity in pursuit of our shared goals,” he said.
The coalition, which has been gaining national traction, is being championed by Peter Obi and strongly supported by the ADC.
Many view it as a direct response to mounting public frustration with President Tinubu’s administration.
As a show of commitment, the Enugu LP said it will begin promoting the coalition’s message and ADC agenda in all 160 wards across the state.
“We are excited to announce that we can now begin advertising the ADC agenda across all 160 wards in Enugu State,” Ugwu stated.
This move, analysts say, could significantly boost visibility and support for the coalition at the grassroots level an essential foundation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The coalition’s expansion comes at a time when many Nigerians are expressing disillusionment with the current government, citing economic decline, rising insecurity, and worsening poverty.
Observers believe the Enugu endorsement signals deepening momentum behind a “third force” movement one that positions Peter Obi as the figurehead of a serious political alternative.
According to the statement, the coalition aims to promote a shared vision for a better Nigeria while engaging communities on the issues that matter most.
“We look forward to your support and participation in this effort,” the party said in closing.
