2027: Why I will serve only one term if elected president — Amaechi

Former Rivers State Governor and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has vowed to serve only one term if elected president in the 2027 general elections.

Amaechi made this declaration on Channels Television’s Politics Today, citing the principle of national unity and power rotation between Nigeria’s northern and southern regions.

Amaechi stated that he would serve only four years if elected president, linking his stance to the zoning agreement between the North and South.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to the unwritten agreement that allows each region to complete its eight-year tenure.

Amaechi noted that he had supported a northern candidate in 2015 due to a breach of the zoning understanding and would advocate for the South to complete its tenure if the ADC zones the presidency to the region.

He believes that adhering to the zoning agreement is crucial for maintaining fairness and stability in the country’s power dynamics.
