Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed why his much-anticipated collaboration with singer Wande Coal, “Come My Way,” was never officially released.
The song generated excitement among fans after a snippet of the collaboration surfaced online, leading many to anticipate an official release from the two Afrobeats stars.
However, Davido explained that the collaboration ultimately did not materialise because of a disagreement over how the song would be released.
According to him, Wande Coal wanted to release his own version of the song as a single before subsequently putting out their joint version as a remix.
Davido said he was not comfortable with the arrangement because he had recorded the song as a collaboration rather than as a remix.
“The ‘Come My Way’ snippet with Wande Coal didn’t later drop as a song because he wanted to drop his single part of the song first then drop our version as a remix and I wasn’t okay with it cause I didn’t record it as a remix,” he said.
The singer also revealed that the unreleased collaboration is just one of many songs sitting in his catalogue.
“I have over 400 unreleased songs,” Davido added.
His revelation has once again given fans an insight into the huge volume of music created by one of Africa’s biggest music stars but never officially released.
Over the years, snippets of Davido’s unreleased songs and collaborations have frequently surfaced online, sometimes generating significant anticipation among fans.
The singer’s latest comments suggest that there is a substantial catalogue of completed or partially completed material that could potentially see the light of day in the future.
For fans who have continued to ask about “Come My Way,” however, the collaboration with Wande Coal remains one of the unreleased songs that has generated considerable curiosity.
