Carlos Ancelotti takes up managerial job in Brazil

Carlo Ancelotti, the current Brazil national football team coach and former Real Madrid manager, has been sentenced to one year in prison for tax fraud.

Ancelotti was found guilty of evading taxes in 2014 by concealing income from image rights and failing to disclose earnings to Spanish tax officials.

He was sentenced to one year in prison, but is unlikely to serve time due to Spanish law, which rarely requires defendants without previous convictions to serve jail time for non-violent crimes with sentences under two years.

Ancelotti was acquitted of additional tax-related charges from 2015 related to image rights revenue.

He was accused of misleading the tax office to avoid paying over £833,000 in income tax.

Ancelotti had denied any wrongdoing, despite previously underpaying tax.

Ancelotti’s coaching career includes stints at Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton, and now Brazil.
