Israeli air raids early Monday struck a residential building in Gaza City, further intensifying the destruction in the war-ravaged enclave.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered from Al Jazeera reports that the attack flattened the multi-story building, leaving many civilians feared dead or trapped.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as families screamed from beneath the rubble following the sudden collapse.

“The entire building trembled before it crumbled like paper,” said a neighbor who narrowly escaped the strike.

Emergency responders rushed to the site with ambulances and rescue equipment, attempting to recover survivors from the debris.

Gaza’s Health Ministry confirmed at least 14 fatalities so far, including six children caught in the collapse.

Officials added that dozens more were injured or missing, and the death toll could climb as search efforts continue.

The Israeli military acknowledged the airstrike, stating it targeted a Hamas command center allegedly operating from the building.

In a statement, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claimed it was neutralizing terrorist infrastructure embedded within civilian areas.

However, human rights organizations and local residents have condemned the strike as a war crime and breach of international humanitarian law.

“These were innocent families, not militants,” said one humanitarian worker at the scene.

“Israel continues to bomb schools, homes, and shelters with little or no regard for innocent lives,” he added.

Civilians remain the worst hit as the Gaza conflict escalates, facing constant bombardment and worsening humanitarian conditions.

The enclave’s already strained medical and emergency services are overwhelmed, making rescue and relief efforts increasingly difficult.

The international community has repeatedly called for restraint and the protection of civilian infrastructure in line with global legal standards.

Despite these appeals, the violence continues unabated, turning Gaza into a deadly war zone for its civilian population.

The conflict shows no sign of de-escalation, raising fears of more civilian casualties in the coming days.
