The President of the COPDEM Students Network, Comrade Adamu Yusuf Gwary, has declared that the 2027 general election will not be about political parties, but about rescuing Nigeria from decades of failed leadership.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Comrade Gwary made this declaration during a broadcast via the COPDEM People’s Parliament, where he addressed recent political developments and expressed dissatisfaction with the state of governance in the country.
He referenced the recent endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as further evidence of elite solidarity across party lines.
Gwary said the endorsement was not surprising, pointing out that politicians, regardless of party affiliation, often prioritize their class interests over the welfare of ordinary citizens.
“This is not about APC, PDP, Labour Party or ADC,” Gwary stated.
“It is about removing incompetent and selfish leaders who have kept Nigeria in chains for decades.”
He insisted that Nigerians must focus on personalities, integrity, and competence rather than being swayed by party symbols or tribal sentiments.
According to the student leader, the 2027 election should be about choosing a visionary leader with a proven record of performance, adding that many Nigerians have already identified former Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi, as the most credible choice.
“To every supporter and admirer of Mr. Peter Obi across Nigeria, whether he runs under Labour Party, ADC, or any other party, our mission remains unchanged,” Gwary emphasized.
“We are taking H.E. Peter Obi to Aso Rock Villa with our votes.”
He described the current situation as a national emergency, where insecurity, poverty, unemployment, and corruption have become daily realities for millions of citizens.
“We are in a war for Nigeria’s soul,” Gwary said.
“The North, South, East, and West must unite, not as political allies, but as a collective of oppressed citizens who are tired of being robbed of their future.”
The student leader accused Nigeria’s political elite of enriching themselves while rotating power among their families and cronies.
He argued that recent cross-party endorsements were nothing more than an attempt to confuse voters and preserve the status quo.
“They endorse each other to keep the system rigged against the people,” he said.
“But in 2027, we will not be deceived by familiar faces in new disguises.”
Gwary urged Nigerian youth and students to prepare for a revolutionary shift at the ballot box, one that will mark the beginning of a new political order.
He further challenged young people not to be swayed by propaganda or fake unity talks among career politicians, warning that such tactics are aimed at weakening public resolve.
“We must not fall for their distractions,” he said.
“Our single goal is to make Peter Obi Nigeria’s number one citizen in 2027.”
He ended with a clarion call to action:
“Nigeria will rise again. The power is in our hands.”
