President Bola Tinubu has directed FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and APC governors to secure land and begin constructing a permanent national secretariat for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He gave this instruction during the APC’s 14th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Tinubu emphasized the need to leave lasting structures for the party and deepen its grassroots presence.

“We should put a committee together of progressive governors to find appropriate land and build,” Tinubu declared.

His suggestion received immediate applause, and he confirmed it was approved on the spot.

The move aligns with Tinubu’s goal of strengthening internal party structures ahead of the 2027 elections.

He also praised Vice President Kashim Shettima for his role during the funeral of the former APC national chairman, calling it a moment of emotional significance for the party.

Tinubu paid tribute to deceased party members and prayed for their eternal rest.

“May Almighty God forgive their shortcomings and grant them eternal freedom,” he said.

On national matters, the President said Nigeria’s economy had stabilised under his administration.

“The economy we inherited was wobbling. Today, it’s stabilised, and we are growing,” Tinubu stated. He also cited improvements in revenue and security.

He added that thousands of terrorists and bandits had been neutralised, although he warned against complacency.

“We must remain vigilant and invest more in our people,” he said.

Tinubu urged the APC’s new leadership to form a committee that would tour the country for mass registration of new members, including recent defectors.

“Our doors are open. Let them enjoy full membership without difficulty,” he said.

He commended Governors Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom) and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau) for joining the APC and congratulated Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo on his Supreme Court victory.

He also lauded the launch of Edo Line, a new state transport scheme.

Finally, he urged APC governors to address complaints from the grassroots. “Nigerians are still complaining. You must wet the grass,” he told them.

He ended his speech with optimism: “Now that the economy is stabilised, we must aim only upward. May God bless our democracy and bless Nigeria.”
