The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has reached out to Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, urging both men to join its platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a post shared on Sunday, April 26, the party suggested there is a narrow two-week window for the pair to come on board and secure its presidential ticket.

The message was brief but pointed, accompanied by an image of the two politicians shaking hands and a caption expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future.

The move comes amid growing speculation about a possible alliance between Obi and Kwankwaso.

Just last week, their supporters launched what they call the “OK Movement,” aimed at building momentum for a joint ticket ahead of the elections.

Organisers have since begun setting up national and regional structures to drive the campaign.

At the same time, the African Democratic Congress  where both politicians are key figures  is grappling with an internal leadership dispute that could complicate its readiness for the 2027 race.

The case is currently before the Supreme Court, with a ruling still pending.

Adding to the pressure, the Independent National Electoral Commission has set May 30, 2026, as the deadline for political parties to submit membership registers and nominate candidates.

Several opposition groups have pushed back, arguing that the timeline is too tight and puts them at a disadvantage.

With the clock ticking and internal divisions unresolved, the NDC’s invitation appears to be both strategic and opportunistic an attempt to reshape the opposition landscape before critical deadlines arrive.
