Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has boldly dismissed Governor Monday Okpebholo’s order requiring him to seek security clearance before visiting Edo State. Obi, unfazed by the warning, declared that he would return to the state whenever he pleases.

Speaking in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Thursday, July 24, Obi made his position clear while attending an event at Christ The King College (CKC), his alma mater.Peter Obi donates #50million to CKC Onitsha.

The former governor had visited the college to donate ₦50 million on behalf of the old boys’ association.

He praised the school for its “phenomenal work” and said the donation would support their ongoing projects.

When journalists asked about the Edo State governor’s directive, Obi stood firm. “I’m used to receiving threats,” he said. “I will go to Edo anytime I want.”

Obi advised Governor Okpebholo to channel his energy into supporting public institutions instead of issuing threats.

He argued that leaders should encourage positive action rather than suppress it.

The Archbishop of the Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke, welcomed Obi to the college.

The school management and students also received him warmly. During the ceremony, the Archbishop commended Obi’s dedication to rebuilding Nigeria through service and integrity.

Obi explained that he and a few of his old schoolmates decided to raise funds to support CKC.

He encouraged other Nigerians to do the same in their communities.

The clash between Obi and Okpebholo has drawn national attention, especially with Edo’s upcoming political activities.

Many see Obi’s firm stance as a challenge to political strongmen attempting to control public appearances in their regions.
