Ibrahim Musa Kontagora

Former Senator Ibrahim Musa Kontagora, who represented Niger North senatorial district in the National Assembly from 2011 to 2015, has died in Abuja following a medical emergency.

Kontagora passed away at Nizamiye Hospital, a private medical facility in Abuja reportedly operated by Turkish nationals.

Hospital administrators according to Peoples Gazette, allegedly refused to proceed with an urgent surgery until a $15,000 balance was settled out of a total cost of $30,000.

The family scrambled to raise the remaining funds but arrived too late.

A hospital spokesman confirmed their policy of requiring full payment before treatment but didn’t take responsibility for the outcome.

Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago contributed to the emergency fund.

Other politicians like Senator Aliyu Abdullahi have expressed condolences.

Kontagora was buried at the National Mosque in Abuja following Islamic rites.

The incident has sparked a wave of grief and anger among Nigerians, questioning the ethics of medical institutions prioritizing profit over human lives.
