Rejoinder to Felix Morka’s political fantasy: Nigerians are not fools!

Felix Morka

The recent press release by Felix Morka, the Publicity Secretary of the APC, is a desperate attempt to mask the glaring failures of the Tinubu administration with empty rhetoric, selective data, and laughable sycophancy. In his poorly crafted political sermon, Morka tried to cast Mallam Nasir El-Rufai as an “inconsolable sulker,” simply because the former governor had the courage to speak a hard and uncomfortable truth—that this administration is running Nigeria into the ground with a smile on its face.

Let’s be clear: Morka’s long-winded outburst is nothing but a diversion from the real issues affecting Nigerians—poverty, inflation, insecurity, joblessness, and a near-total collapse of public trust in leadership. If anything, it reveals how disconnected the APC propaganda machine has become from the actual pains and frustrations of everyday Nigerians.

A GOVERNMENT BUILT ON SLOGANS, NOT SOLUTIONS

Morka boasts of a “steady rebound” in the economy and a “revolution in agriculture,” yet Nigerians are buying a bag of rice at over ₦80,000, paying over ₦900 per litre for fuel, and struggling to feed their families. Is this the “Renewed Hope” or renewed hardship?

He speaks of “420 roads and bridges underway” like a student reciting borrowed lines from a textbook. Where are these projects? In which states? What percentage of completion? Nigerians are not impressed with phantom statistics. They want food on their table, electricity in their homes, jobs for their youth, and safety in their streets.

The mention of “NELFUND for students” would be laughable if it wasn’t so insulting. A government that cannot even pay ASUU or fix the rot in basic education is now celebrating loans for already impoverished students as a major milestone. That is not policy reform—it is intellectual fraud.

MALLAM NASIR EL-RUFAI: THE VOICE THEY FEAR MOST

Felix Morka and his clique of praise-singers are clearly rattled by El-Rufai’s recent comments because they know he speaks from a place of experience, insight, and courage. Unlike many politicians hiding behind Abuja’s tinted SUVs, El-Rufai has governed, reformed, and dared where others trembled.

His criticism of Tinubu’s clannishness is not baseless—it is echoed in the streets, in the civil service, in the barracks, and even in the corridors of power. Nigeria today is more divided than ever—ethnically, religiously, and economically. To call this president “detribalized” is an insult to the intelligence of Nigerians who see the glaring bias in appointments and lopsided resource distribution.

THE INFANTILE POLITICS IS NOT EL-RUFAI’S—IT’S YOURS, MR. MORKA

If Morka had any grasp of basic political ethics, he would know that critique is not treason, and opposition is not sabotage. In advanced democracies, dissenting voices are the engines of progress. El-Rufai has not “fallen from grace”—he has risen to the challenge of defending truth in a time of national delusion. That is what leadership looks like.

Morka’s emotional tirade against ADC, Atiku, Obi, Amaechi, and every other opponent is a cheap tactic. If they are truly “rudderless,” why is APC losing ground daily in public opinion? If the Tinubu administration is truly succeeding, why the endless media campaigns to convince the same people who are crying out in pain?

LET’S TALK NUMBERS, NOT NOISE

Debt Profile: Nigeria’s public debt is now over ₦121 trillion—far worse than any previous administration.

Inflation: Food inflation is at 40%, the worst in recent history.

Unemployment: Youth unemployment stands at over 53%, according to credible independent data.

Security: Kidnapping, banditry, and insurgency still plague large swaths of the North and South.

Currency: The Naira remains volatile despite all the “unification” charade—black market rates hit over ₦1,500/$ not long ago.

Are these the indicators of a “visionary and transformational” government? Or signs of national failure hidden behind official lies?

CONCLUSION: APC HAS RUN OUT OF EXCUSES

Felix Morka should understand that Nigeria is not a theatre for propaganda but a country in need of urgent rescue. The days of political gaslighting are over. Nigerians are awake, aware, and tired of being deceived.

Mallam Nasir El-Rufai remains a fearless voice of reason and reform in a system that is collapsing under the weight of incompetence and corruption. If speaking the truth makes him “a clown,” then Nigeria surely needs more of such clowns and fewer court jesters like Felix Morka.

2027 is not far. No amount of press statements can cover the failures of today. Let the people decide.
