President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, MNI, as the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education aimed towards fostering diversity and excellence in governance,

An alumna of Nigeria’s Unity Schools, Mrs. Walson-Jack holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Lagos and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987. Notably, she is among the first individuals educated in Nigeria’s Unity Schools to attain such a high-ranking position within the Ministry of Education.

Having been appointed as a Permanent Secretary in 2017 by former President Buhari, Mrs. Walson-Jack brings a wealth of experience and leadership to her new role. She has previously served in key capacities, including the Service Welfare Office of the Office of the Head Of Service of the Civil Service of the Federation, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, and the Federal Ministries of Power, Water Resources, and Sanitation.

Mrs. Walson-Jack’s appointment is viewed as a crucial stride toward achieving gender balance in Nigerian politics. President Tinubu’s commitment to an inclusive and competent governance structure is underscored by this historic move.
