ENUGU, NIGERIA — Hon Prince Kingsley Acharabagu has reaffirmed his commitment to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring that he will remain with the party regardless of the outcome of ongoing political developments.
The Enugu North Zonal Chairman made the statement amid a wave of defections affecting the party, using his public platform to emphasize loyalty, resilience, and personal conviction in the face of uncertainty.
Acharabagu stated that his political journey within ADC is rooted in principle, insisting that whether he succeeds or fails within the party, he would accept the outcome with dignity.
He stressed that victory within ADC would be earned honorably, while failure, if it comes, would be faced with equal strength and responsibility.
Speaking to a Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) correspondent in Enugu, he added that he is not the type of leader who moves followers from one political platform to another, emphasizing that he cannot disappoint those he personally brought into the ADC.
He explained that many of his supporters joined the party based on his influence and conviction, making it a matter of personal integrity to remain committed despite ongoing political pressure.
Acharabagu further recounted the time, effort, and resources he has invested in building the party’s structure in Enugu North since joining the ADC in 2024.
He noted that his involvement has gone beyond ordinary participation, describing it as a deliberate effort to strengthen grassroots support and establish a stable political base for the party.
The statement comes at a time when internal tensions and defections have raised concerns about the ADC’s stability and cohesion in several parts of the country.
Observers note that defections in Nigerian politics are often driven by shifting alliances, electoral ambitions, and disagreements over leadership or candidate selection processes.
Acharabagu’s remarks appear aimed at reinforcing confidence among party members in Enugu North, particularly those who may feel uncertain about the party’s future direction.
His reaffirmation of loyalty also highlights a broader message about political consistency and accountability to supporters, especially in a climate where defections are common.
The repeated use of the slogan “ADC arise and shine” reflects an effort to rally members and project strength despite the challenges facing the party.
Political analysts suggest that such declarations can help stabilise grassroots structures, but long-term unity will depend on how effectively party leadership addresses the root causes of the ongoing defections.
Acharabagu’s position places him among a group of political actors choosing to remain and build within their party rather than pursue alternative platforms.
As the situation continues to evolve, attention will focus on whether similar commitments will emerge from other leaders and how the ADC navigates its current internal challenges ahead of future elections.
