Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has commenced the payment of the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage.

This move makes Adamawa one of the first states in Northern Nigeria to implement the wage increase recently signed into law by President Bola Tinubu

While several state governors have expressed concerns about their ability to implement the N70,000 minimum wage due to economic constraints, Governor Fintiri has pushed forward with the policy, beginning in August 2024.

The increase this medium gathered, will first benefit state government workers, with local government employees set to start receiving the enhanced salary from September.

Meanwhile, the news has been met with enthusiasm among civil servants in Adamawa, many of whom have expressed gratitude to the governor for keeping his promise.

Reports from various sources, including state workers who have already received the updated salary, confirm the implementation.

Several workers hailed Governor Fintiri, describing him as a leader who delivers on his commitments.
