ADC Breaks Silence on ‘Kingibe Suspension’ Report

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports claiming that Ireti Kingibe, the senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, has been suspended from the party.

The opposition party described the reports circulating in some sections of the media as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard them.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the party had no knowledge of any suspension involving the FCT senator.

“The African Democratic Congress is unaware of any suspension of Senator Ireti Kingibe, the distinguished senator representing the Federal Capital Territory,” Abdullahi said.

He explained that the party operates established constitutional procedures for addressing issues involving its members.

According to him, any disciplinary matters are handled through the party’s internal mechanisms rather than through public announcements.

“As a law-abiding political party, the ADC has clear constitutional channels and procedures for addressing allegations involving its members,” Abdullahi added.

The party spokesman also urged the public and media organisations to rely on verified information rather than speculation.

“We therefore urge the public and the media to disregard the reports suggesting that Senator Ireti Kingibe has been suspended by the party, as they are false and misleading,” he said.

The clarification follows reports circulating online suggesting that disciplinary action had been taken against the senator.

However, the African Democratic Congress maintains that no such decision was taken through its recognised party structures.
