Salihu Moh. Lukman, a prominent leader in the anti-Tinubu coalition within the ADC, firmly stated that the party will retain control over its structures.

He emphasized the necessity of strengthening internal frameworks to ensure the party’s stability and effectiveness for the upcoming 2027 elections.

Therefore, he highlighted that maintaining party discipline and accountability remains a top priority.

This focus, he explained, will ensure the party’s integrity and unity during the upcoming election cycle.

During an interview on AIT’s Jigsaw, Lukman revealed Amaechi’s interest in contesting under ADC, indicating his aspirations clearly.

Furthermore, speculation is rife that Atiku and Peter Obi could become potential contenders for ADC’s presidential ticket.

Nonetheless, Lukman stressed that the party’s main goal is to build strong internal structures rather than focus on individual ambitions.

He emphasized that the party aims to regulate conduct and ensure stability through disciplined organizational growth.

Nevertheless, Lukman clarified that the party’s immediate focus is on building resilient internal structures rather than accommodating individual ambitions.

Lukman explained, “We are not handing over ADC structures to aspiring candidates.

Instead, our main focus is to ensure that the party remains strong enough to regulate everyone’s conduct, including elected officials.”

He emphasized that the coalition’s agreement with ADC resulted from extensive negotiations with the party’s leadership and careful legal due diligence.

Expulsion of Dumebi Kachikwu and Others

Lukman clarified that Dumebi Kachikwu, along with 15 others, faced expulsion from the ADC.

This decision relied on INEC’s official records, thus ensuring its legitimacy.

Moreover, Lukman emphasized that INEC’s certified proceedings confirm the expulsion of Dumebi Kachikwu and others occurred long ago.

This confirmation further underscores the legality of their removal from the party.

Likewise, during his interview, Lukman explained that ADC will not transfer its structures to presidential aspirants in 2027.

In addition, Lukman highlighted that the party aims to strengthen its internal framework by promoting discipline among candidates and officials.

Moreover, Lukman disclosed that former Minister Amaechi has shown interest in contesting under ADC, emphasizing party unity and focus.

Similarly, he noted speculation about Atiku and Obi as potential contenders, but stressed that ADC prioritizes internal stability over individual ambitions.

Finally, Lukman emphasized that ADC’s arrangements resulted from negotiations and thorough legal due diligence to uphold party integrity.

He further noted that the coalition is working collaboratively with ADC leadership rather than attempting to hijack party structures.

Interim guidelines for state-level organization and restructuring are expected soon from the leadership team led by Senator David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola.

Suspension of Ambitions for Party Unity

Lukman urged coalition members to suspend their political ambitions until the party structures are fully established.

He emphasized that prioritizing individual aspirations over collective goals could lead to significant setbacks.

“The coalition and 2027 elections are not merely about producing candidates; they must ensure we avoid repeating past mistakes,” he stated.

Moreover, he expressed concerns about replicating issues seen in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Some leaders allegedly undermine party authority, which poses a serious threat.

“We must avoid creating another set of emperors who disregard the party’s directives once elected,” he cautioned.

ADC and ADA: Products of Coalition Strategy

Lukman addressed public queries about the relationship between the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).

He clarified that, because of strategic decisions, both organizations were created by the coalition to achieve specific goals.

Additionally, he explained that a dedicated committee was assigned to develop a viable 2027 alternative, actively preventing one-party dominance.

Lukman emphasized that the coalition’s efforts support constitutional rights, enabling participation in elections beyond the dominance of the APC.

Looking Ahead to 2027

The coalition actively seeks to provide Nigerians with credible options in upcoming elections.

Additionally, it fosters accountability and inclusivity within its ranks.

Lukman emphasized that their approach focuses on collaboration rather than traditional political maneuvering.

Furthermore, they prioritize long-term goals instead of immediate gains.

As ADC continues its reorganization efforts, all eyes are on how it will position itself as a formidable contender in Nigeria’s political landscape leading up to 2027.
